Gazzarri Dancers

The Checkerlads play over video of the Gazzarri Dancers.

A big part of the early 60's rock and roll revolution on the Sunset Strip was the birth of 'discotheques' ... or dance clubs with live bands playing rock and roll music. In 1963, Gazzarri's was one of the first clubs to change it's format ... as dancers from all around Southern California and especially the Hollywood area came in to perfect their skill ... and party the night away.

Dozens of television shows reflected that early dance craze ... and the various go-go styles of dancing ... but none more impressively that the show Hollywood A Go-Go.
"Hollywood a-Go-Go" was a nationally syndicated television show based in Los Angeles and hosted by L.A. based KHJ 'BOSS' RADIO DJ, Sam Riddle. It featured the Gazzarri Dancers, from the nearby Gazzarri's 'discotheque' just off the Sunset Strip. The show ran from May 16, 1965 to June 4, 1966. Read more on MySpace
